Clinical research at Austin Regional Clinic opens doors for new treatments

Austin Regional Clinic (ARC) has supported over 50 clinical trials since 2016, through the ARC Clinical Research program. In partnership with Innovo Research, we examine new ways to prevent, detect, or treat diseases that may benefit pediatric and adult patients in our community.
Currently, we are enrolling for five different vaccine and treatment studies, including pediatric migraines, chronic kidney disease, and chronic hives. Past studies included vaccine trials for adults and children for COVID, chicken pox, meningitis, and others; diagnosis studies for autism and lung cancer; and treatment studies for arthritis, eczema, chronic kidney disease, hot flashes, and flu.
Research that impacts patients
ARC Clinical Research studies examine a multitude of conditions and investigate new medications and treatments that are often life-changing for patients. From start to finish, clinical trials are long, careful processes which can take many years to complete.
We are currently conducting a long-term study for multiple sclerosis (MS) medication BRIUMVI. This 96-week study tracks the drug's effectiveness, safety, and how well patients tolerate it over time. This research provides Central Texans living with MS local access to a potentially breakthrough treatment option while helping us better understand its long-term benefits.
Another treatment study helped slow the progression of chronic kidney disease (CKD). This progressive condition damages the kidneys and stops them from filtering blood properly. Researchers at ARC conducted a Phase III study focused on patients who have CKD and high proteinuria (excess protein in their urine—a key sign of damage). The study discovered a powerful new approach that lowered protein levels and significantly slowed the progression of the disease, thus offering new hope for managing this condition.
"ARC has been serving the community for over 45 years. In addition to comprehensive, coordinated, primary, specialty, and surgical care, we are proud to find new ways to prevent and treat illness and disease, improve outcomes, and provide Central Texans with access to advanced medical treatment.” said Anas Daghestani, MD, President & CEO of ARC.
